Got home from vacation in Vegas as m brother was feeding my Goby while I was gone. I have a 24G Nano Cube that I just started in May.I got home and algae covered the glass and a coral was totally gone...my Goby was also dead. I am looking at the water and no flow is active in the tank.

I have put a pump to get the flow going but have no idea what the problem could be. It did not run dry as there is alot of water the in the back compartments and no where near a low level.

Any ideas? I am in need of cleaning something to get it running again?

what happen was that ammonia nitrate and phosphate from the to much organic waste and not enough flow. also if you kept the light on for to long. try cleaning the inside of the flow tubes and check the pump to make sure it working right and is not gummed up. also a well aimed power head will help you out a lot. a good size water change couldnt hurt, maybe like 30% to 40%.

Basically right now my biggest worry is the pump not working as what its alive looks fine and will survive. Did a water change already. How do i clean the tubes?

did you find the dead goby, i've had some that jump into the back compartments. Then when I realized that my flow had greatly decreased, I checked my return pump and found the goby had got sucked into it, clogging the return. :<

No water flow = no oxygen.

You are lucky the tank did not crash. Sometimes pump fail. Just replace it and move on.

at most pet shop they have what looks like a baby bottle brush. usally pretty thin so you could fit it in the tubes. and yes i forgot to ask you about the goby and if you found the body. just like luv2reef said. the body could clog the return. take apart the pump and clean out the housing. if it still doesnt work right after all of that then you do need a new pump

No the goby was dead in the sand so it wasnt him.
