Alright, I'm really having trouble deciding on what type of sandbed to use in my 135 gal lagoon soft coral tank.
- Which is easier to maintain?
- Would one produce a more healthy enviroment compared to the other?
- Which one is safer (ie: won't poison the tank)?
- Which one would allow me to keep a shrimp goby?

But in general, whats is your prefered type of sandbed to have in the main tank?

I didn't answer your poll because there are benefits and detractors to both.
I've had a DSB in my tank for almost 2 years and it has been a positive overall. I'm planning an upgrade and when I do I'll use a remote DSB and keep a SSB in the tank for asthetics only. My only gripe has been the limits on flow due to sand storms and creating dunes. But if your planning a lower flow tank a DSB is a great way to go.
All of the scary warnings of morning after scenarios due to a DSB are utter BS, so don't let that be your deciding factor.

I can't answer this question any more. It's been beaten to death. Do a search or even just go back several pages and start to read everything you can find.
Good luck.

How about no sand bed? Why let it trap detritus when we can use good skimmers?
