Eggcrate or not??

I am setting up a new 125 gallon tank. I learned after setting up my last tank to put the rock in first and the sand next. My question is should I put eggcrate in the tank first to set the LR on or should the LR go directly on the glass?

I placed the eggcrate, then the sand then the LR
The egcrate will cushin the rock, I have a brittle star which keep digging in the sand, the egg crate will prevent avalanches.
