do you guys think i can use this system?
i wanna keep lps for now but in the future maybe some sps and a anemone?
PFO 175w dual ballast with mogul sockets and reflectors

no im buying from somebody on reefcentral.
he said there are two bulbs with the dual ballast and reflectors?
for 150$

i have the same thing on my tank, pretty sweet, i have no reflectors and ushio 10ks and they are sweet.

I wouldnt bother with halides on a 55g... too narrow of a tank, halides get mounted up higher, so half the light they make just goes out the front and back of the tank. I would do a 4x54wattT5 retrofit. More light.

Oh, and BTW, 2 * 175 = 350, not 300.

man i went and bought it :)) i think 135$ for a pfo dual ballast,two reflectors and two 10k ushio bulbs 4 months use.i think its a pretty good deal???

Yea you can, I used 2x 250watts, and it worked well, I could keep anything.

how much room should i have between the bulb and the top of the aquarium?

Which, like I said... means you are putting more light outside the tank than in it at that height...
