View Full Version : Drilling into Calcium Reactor?

So I bought this Deltec PF 509 calcium reactor for incredibly cheap off ebay and it works pretty good. theres only one problem with it, there is no place for a PH probe. I previously just had the probe near the end of the output for the reactor. But sometimes I feel like the readings are not very accurate. What I wanted to do was drill a hole in the output node big enough for a probe to fit in and then seal it up somehow.

Should I go through with this? What/how should I seal the probe with? Any advice would be helpful

I would use a Tee instead and add the probe to the Tee. If you later change to a different probe you will always have your reactor intact.

That looks like a Kalk reactor (I can read in the pic) and much different than a calcium reactor. I don't think kalk reactors need a ph probe kalkwasswer usually runs a very high ph.

No...that is a Calcium reactor. For some reason, Deltec calls their Ca Reactors "Kalkreaktor"... Their Kalk reactors are called Kalkwasser stirrers...

corbinwalt --- maybe they have another lid that supports a PH probe? LIke my korallin calc. reactor has different lids that support ph probe or no ph probe.

You'd be better off drilling thru the top of the reactor instead of through there. The probe will take up most of the outlet if you do it there which will restrict most of the flow out of the reactor.
