I have been wondering if there is a difference in CO2. I usually get my tank refilled at a paintball shop since they will not take my new tank(s) and swap it with a beatup used one. Is there such a thing as "food grade" CO2? Is the paintball shop CO2 ok to use? What are your thoughts and opinions?

Thanks,

there is food grade co2. the tanks at the paintball shop or welding company usually contain oil that may be released into your tank. the tanks that are used for food and beverage will be cleaned of all oils before filling.

There shouldn't be oil present in CO2, even from the welding supplier. It would be problem even for them ;)
