I'm looking for new options for my 46g bowfront, i'm currently running a coralife 150w HOB hallide with a 14k pheonix and the stock 150w corlife ballast.

Reason i'm looking into a new light is I've been fairly unhappy with the color, it seems fairly dark, descent growth but nothing remarkable. Not sure if I should go with T5's or higher wattage hallides or what?

I've been considering the cheap units on ebay by aquatraders, single 250w hallide with 2x 96w PC's and replacing the stock electronic ballast with an icecap 250.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

I've really been sold on T5's lately. Every coral I've purchased from my multiple LFS was under halides and pc's...within a week under my T5's, the corals look like a totally different frag or colony. So many options with color in T5's also.

Yeah that light is too small for your tank, I bet the ends of the tank are not light very well. I use 2 of this same Coralife lights on my 40 breeder. I would go with a single 250 watt pendent on a 46 gallon bow. Hellolights.com has some very nice inexpensive pendents and retor kits. I have never used t5s so I dont know what to tell you on that. I have seem some nice corals under t5s thoughs. But I perfer good old halides, tried and true. Just my 2 cents on it.
