have smoll portion of this lost in the rock and seems to of lost this brown stuff but is growing back over the polyips. can eny one tell me what it is and how to get rid of it. it just seems to grow over the polyips and they still extend during the day. wondering if it was some type of plant as it recedied on the frag that was lost for a bit and came out better than the perant. i have seen this on gonioporas. i have one but there is no sighn on it but it has a what i asume is a simbiotic worm that is living on it. has been doing no harme so assume its doing it good. sorry alot of asuming but sum help on the alveopopora would be good thank you.

Hey Whiteleaf. I can't make out in your photo any worm you are describing. Can you mark up the photo with a circle or something and repost?

Also, in the photo is that as extended as your Alvio gets? Mine fully extended is about 4 times as large. Mine loves high light (center top with a MH 150) and strong - PULSATING - current (not constand direct). Under those conditions it get huge. I don't have any worms and I'm not aware of any symbiotics for Alvio. My policy is if I can't ID a worm - I try to get rid of it.

sorry worm not on alveopora on goiopora. alve used to extend more but think this stuff is stopping it extend.

dip the pieces and get rid of the worms... you may need repeated dips over time
