I run a solana 34 nano with a Tunze Osmolator for ATO. I have the ATO level set to about 3 inches below where the second chamber would start overflowing into the third chamber (about 3 inches below the drip plate).
Everything works fine while I am at home - I watch the ATO kick in at exactly the right water level and fill up for a short period of time. Lately, I have been coming home to find the water level about 5 inches above the ATO. This makes the water level too high in the first chamber hence messing with skimmer operation.
The only things I could think of that would cause this:
1. A sudden drop in incoming water into the overflow. I was thinking it could just be the overflow getting gummed up for a bit, the ATO kicks in to compensate, then the blockage clears and boom my tank has too much water in it....but that wouldn't explain why it happens like clockwork.
2. ATO malfunctioning and kicking in at random times?
3. Some sort of temperature/pressure issue? The one thing that happens while I am at work is that my apartment heats up quit a bit while my aquarium stays cold. Could this cause some sort of issue that would allow the return pump to push more flow during the day hence causing more water to be pushed into the aquarium vs. the overflow?
Anyone ever run into this type of situation before happen to have any ideas?
