get you a octo nw 150 or maybe a vertex in 80, You can get a nice used skimmer in that price range. just keep your ears open.

the wattage on the vertex pumps make me cringe. i would look into an octo NW150

I have the same setup as you Firebirdude and I run the Octo NW-150. Extremely happy with my choice..

I have been stoked on my Aqua Euro needle wheel skimmer. It's done me well for a year and a half. This model should work for you

ran the octo nw150 on my 75 for years. its currently skimming my 400g system... no algea problems in the first 3 months with it oddly enough. but its also supporting a whopping 3 fish...
bigger is already waiting to be installed. the octo nw150 definitely served me extremely well though, very well built, and skims well. just go ahead and get the upgraded gate valve now though. that riser tube junk is a joke.

I use a ps75 with a GenX1500, I spend $85 and in my 30g reef with 20g fuge works very well for the money. In a tank like yours I will use the PS160. Here is a pic of 48 hours of skimmate:

Well it seems we have a lot of supporters for the Octopus NW150. Question for you guys though. It seems as many owners highly recommend doing the gate valve mod to get rid of the riser tube. It would seem with the additional cost of this, I could get the Octopus DNW110 recirculating skimmer. (~$200 after feed pump) On this note of the 110's.... with a smaller setup such as mine, would the regular NW110 be sufficient for me? The description says good for 75-90gallon tanks. The reason I'm looking at the 110 is the smaller footprint. I have very limited space in my sump and the 150 would require me stripping silicone and moving a baffle to allow the skimmer to fit in the sump.
And lastly, if I do get the DNW110 recirculating skimmer, since I will need to purchase a feed pump, would this make it easy to run externally? I don't know much about it. Just a thought. I could use every available inch in my sump.
So considering the above, it's between:

What about an AquaC Remora? Not sure if its better than an octopus or not. Wouldn't mind seeing some opinions on that subject ;)
The Remoras are about the same price and won't affect your sump as its a HOB.
g. luck.
