Hey everyone
My tank is about 40 gal.
I am probably going to get the Nova Extreme Pro T5 High-Output lighting fixture by Current USA.
It is 6x39watt T5's which comes up to about 234w.

I would like to know generally.. what coral that would support, and ideas as to hardy ones to begin with..

THanks

Jeff

It really depends on the type of bulbs used and the quality of the reflectors. I kept a 50 gallon breeder (36x18x18) with 4x39w T-5's and was able to keep a mix of everything with good strong growth rates. Do your research on the bulbs before you get them to make sure they will maintain what you would like to keep and you will be fine.

Got a science experiment for you sometime. You may have to come up with a way to raise the fan on the tank but point the thing so it blows across the side of the fixture instead of right at the center of the lamps and compare that to the PAR you get now.

BACK TO THE TOPIC AT HAND

The Nova Pro will let you keep anything in that tank provided you use good lamps in it. Stick with ATI, Giesemann, GE daylights, UVL etc.

Yes, you can keep anything from a lighting standpoint. I run 5 T5 bulbs on a 65g (24" high) and have a clam happy in the sandbed.

I'd start with corals like monti caps, monti digitatas, any of the birdsnests, even milleporas - all among the hardiest sps.
