Hi All

I've been keeping fresh & salt tanks for years but this is my first reef. It's a 30 gallon hex with 150W of MH light (12 hours daily) w/ moonlights (the other 12 hours), an in-tank refugium, remora protein skimmer, powerheads, etc. The LR, LS & water came from a 1 year old reef that someone was breaking down. I'm looking to get any advice I can get...powerhead placement, light, refuge, inhabs...coral placement..anything. I've been running the tank for just 3 months now.

Looks good, you might want to add some more rock though. Build it up a bit. With that light and depth of tank you will be able to keep anything you want for the most part. SPS, LPS, softies, just keep in mind dosing you will need with SPS and some LPS corals who burn up calcium encrusting and growing.

Maybe get some more rock and build a tower with some ridges for different coral placement? Also from the picture it looks like you have the flow all going the same way to the front of the tank. You might want to move the little Maxi Jet to one of the sides in order to have the water from each pump crash into itself and create some good random flow. Random flow is the key to not having dead spots.

Looks good though, keep the updates coming.
