I know the answers to this question will vary from person to person. But I have never owned, nor considered purchasing, a beckett style skimmer and need a starting point. For my new tank setup an external skimmer will work well. Going by the fundamentals of good skimming it seems that a lot of beckett style skimmers have a great design.

So, what kind of beckett style skimmers do you have experience w/ and what kind(s) would you recommend? TIA.

I've done quite a bit of research for my 120.

I had a custom made Geo skimmer that kicked butt. Since he is out of the skimmer building business, I would say that Marine Technical Concepts and Precision Marine are the best names out there.

FWIW, I am getting a MTC HSA-5000 next week. I have seen them in person and their build quality is second to none.

The Bermuda line mentioned look to be grossly over-priced.

I have an MRC(myreefcreations) MR-2R recirculating skimmer with 2 becketts on it. Skims like crazy, it does require little adjustments every few days, but other than that I love it.

I would recommend going with a Precision Marine or MRC

I have owned a Myreef skimmer, and now have a Myreef MR-4 clone that works very well. I have been very happy with both.
