Hey there -

I'm very new here and have a quick question for everyone. Here's an overview of what I've come up with so far:

2x Hamilton 400W 14k bulbs (single-ended)
2x Lumenarc III Reflectors

I've heard good things about the PFO HQI ballasts, but like I said in the topic, here's a quick question:

In order to run these lights, do I need two separate ballasts (two of these (http://www.seaquestmarine.com/PFO_400_Watt_Single_HQI_Metal_Halide_Ballast_p/pfo_aq1_400hqi.htm)), or can I just get one dual ballast (one of these (http://www.seaquestmarine.com/PFO_400_Watt_Dual_HQI_Metal_Halide_Ballast_p/pfo_aq2_400hqi.htm))?

If I'm good with the dual ballast, am I still able to have each light on its own timer?

Thanks for your help in advance!

You could get either. The dual ballast has 2 power cords and 2 switches, so you should be able to control them independently

From looking at that picture is APPEARS that you would be able to run each in a different timer.

Just read the specs more carefully,

"# Each ballast can be controlled by independent timers
# Each ballast has an independent on-off switch"

"# Each ballast can be controlled by independent timers

Does anyone know if I would see any performance differences going with the dual over the two singles? These are going to be used over a 60x30x30.
