I was wondering if there was any relatively cheap D/I add on that I can add to my 3 stage R/O unit?
I recently changed the filter cartriges in stage 1 and 2 but not the 3rd stage and the output reading was 20 on the TDS meter.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
So long,Pete

You might want to give a little more info about your system, 20 sounds high even without DI. How old is your membrane? Has it always given you an output of 20?

20 means nothing without other numbers.
What is your tap water TDS?
What membrane do you have?
How old is the membrane?
What is your water pressure?
What is your water temperature?
Have you checked and adjusted the flow restrictor to ensure you have a 4:1 waste ratio?

Prefilters and carbons have no effect on final TDS, its the RO membrane that does that job. If you have 20 coming from the membrane you more than likely have other problems. DI would just be a very expensive crutch and will not fix your problem. The DI resin will be quickly exhausted and cost you more than either a new system or a new RO membrane.
