I have been reading old posts about Metal Halides and T5's. Just curious which would be better of the two:

48" Dual 2 X 250w HQI / 2 X 54w T5 aqua space fixture.

or

48" 8 X 54w T5's aqua space fixture.

I am interested in growing SPS, LPS, and softies. I also want to make sure that the heat isn't going to be crazy. The lighting will be hanging not in an enclosed canopy.

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks

Could find out anything about the fixture. If it has individual reflectors i would go with the T5

mh all the way...shimmers,and lighting that mimics the look of the ocean...t5 all though a tad bit cheaper to run,and the fact that you can get the exact color combo you want , still look artificial....nice,preety,but artificial...hallides create a realism you simply cant achieve with t5...

The T5 fixture does not have individual reflectors. The only price difference is around $50. $50 more for the MH setup.
