A roommate decided to unhook my RO/DI unit rather than walk 15 feet to a different sink to wash his hands. He has been spoken to. ;)
When he hooked it back up, he left the tap set to stun. 120 degree water ran through my RO/DI unit for about 10 minutes before I noticed.
The trusty TDS meter still shows the expected drops after the RO and DI stages. Incoming TDS - 96. After RO - 6. After DI - 0.
So... what's the failure mode for RO membranes that have been exposed to hot water? Do they fail immediately, fail over a period of hours/days/weeks, or just have a reduced life expectancy?
Thanks in advance,
-Matt
