Picked up a Tropic Marin PO4 test kit. It seems to be pretty decent. You fill two vials, put reagent in one of them and use the two vials over a comparator color chart. I like that there is one with no reagent. It makes the difference easier to spot at low levels. My reading came our to .05 which I guess is ok?

I use the same test kit and have been happy with it. A reading of .05 isn't bad but IMO indicates that you are due for a water change and possible more GFO.

Like any of them, the low reading is tough to read. It seems to be more than the <.01, and closer to the .05. I dont use GFO, but have a good sized fuge. Any trick for a good lighting setup to have a good view of the colors?

Usually, the manufacturers seem to want natural sunlight for illumination. That might help a bit, compared to fluorescent or incandescent bulbs.

I have always found natural daylight to be the best on these types of kits. If you must do it at night, I'd say stay away from fluorescent and use incandescent with the light behind you. :)
