would this sump/fuge setup work?

I am still trying to understand the specific workings of a sump/fuge system, but I want to add mroe filtration to my tank as well as get my skimmer out of the display. Would this set up, directly under my tank work?

Looks fine to me, although presumably you're not really going to have the return from the fuge go into the bottom of the overflow box, as it looks from the diagram.

What skimmer are you going to use? I have a 10 gallon sump on my 29 and didn't have enough room for a fuge -- my skimmer took up a lot of room.

And yes, I seem to have put the return back to the overflow box for some reason, it will actually go to a different spot on the tank, just coming up over the edge and dumping the water back into the tank.

That should work ok, you may consider replacing the egg crate with a glass pane, as your fuge substrate will will most likely interfere with your skimmer. If you have the cash you should up grade your skimmer too...I am not sure how well that will work for you.
