i just picked up a small hippo tang (about 2")and was wondering if it was natural for it to almost "snuggle" into a rock crevice. is this the way that it acclimates?
thanks

That's what they do. They seem to like crevices. They can be shy to start out. Some will lay down if startled or scared.
BTW - they get pretty large (8"+), and need lots of space. If this is in the 46 bow you have listed, I hope you plan to upgrade soon. They grow fast.
I had one in a 46g cube while getting our 180 going. He started at 1.5" and was almost 3" by the time he was moved. He was definitely cramped in our 46g.
Good luck with him - they're a great fish!

Yes that can def. be normal behavior for them. I think I see them lay down and turn sideways more often than any other tang.
