I am planning on adding some chaeto to my main display for awhile to help with excessive nitrates.. If I left it to float on top would being 10" or so from 250w metal halide be too much light for it?
Or should I submerge the chaeto in eggcrate or some soap dish or something?
Thanks

Do you have a sump?

Nope.. I'm just wanting to deal with high nitrates right now so I don't mind putting the stuff in the display for the time being..

I believe it would take more than the 250w could put out before photoinhibition would take place at the temperatures seen in a reef tank. Another idea would be to fill a spare 10 gallon sump full of sand and let the RDSB take care of it for you.
