We have a 12g JBJ Nano Cube.
Checked nitrates on Sunday and they were a bit high so we did a a 2.5 gallon water change. Checked levels again today (Tuesday) and they are higher than before water change.

are you using ro/di water?...there could be nitrate in the water.

To be honest I have no clue what "ro/di water" is. Sorry to sound dumb. We do purchase our fresh & saltwater from a saltwater fish store.

reverse osmosis/ de ionization it can either be bought or made from a unit you can buy at most lfs or online...... it basically removes most of the impurities found in tap water

Yes, I believe that's what we are using since we purchase it from a saltwater fish store.

I would check the levels of the new water before adding. You never know how often they change their filters.

What about top-off water for evaporation? What do you for that?

Replace with fresh water daily that was purchased from store

like I said to check the levels in the fresh water and if it high then don't use it. Otherwise I don't know why it would be rising.
