View Full Version : Thinking of another tang....

OK, maybe I'm pushing my luck. My kole, scopas, and hippo get along great. They're in a 180. Could I add another tang? I just feel like there's something missing...can't put my finger on it.
If you think I could add another tang, what would you pick?
The ones I like are (in no particular order):
powder blue
blonde naso
vlamingi
orange shoulder
yellow mimic
Considering adult sizes and existing tangs...any possibilities there?

Can you elaborate on this? Maybe we can help you choose from a different family of fish.
FWIW, the orange shoulder and both naso species of the tangs you listed get BIG, even for a 180g.

Here's what I have in the 180:
Kole
Hippo
Scopas
Scribbled Rabbitfish
Yellow Watchman Goby
Coral Beauty
Dragon Goby
Yellow Canary Wrasse
Pair Blue Neon Gobies
Pair True Perculas
Midas Blenny
Yellow Clown Goby
Waiting in qt: female (transitioning to male) lyretail, blue flasher wrasse, cleaner wrasse.
I plan to add 3 or 4 (young) female anthias when they arrive at the lfs. I want the one I have to be dominant and finish changing to male.
Think I'm at the limit?

I like the chocolate mimics, too.
I didn't know if a flame angel would get along with the coral beauty...?
That's it...the 180's only been up since January. Time to upgrade to 500+ ;)

I see no problem with multiple dwarf angels in a 180. And the small size is great!

Whatever you get it needs to be docile. You have a pretty peaceful collection of fish so I think a powder blue would be out. A blonde naso is a good choice. If you bought in say the 6" range it should be ok for a long time. I have one in a 150g that I bought at around 4" 6 months ago and is now about 6". Very docile but finicky eaters when first bought. Mine would only eat flakes and collard greens for the first 4 months. Now eats everything.

Mimic tang is a good choice.
