Hi, I have a 46gallon bow front tank with a reef octopus bh-100 skimmer on it that untill recently has been working great. About 2 weeks ago the skimmer started acting weird and overflowing in like 1-2 minutes after the collection cup was cleaned. But then it would go back to normal and skim properly. But today after I did my water change the collection cup just keeps overflowing in less then a minute, I tried raising the collection cup to make it skim dry and nothing really works im not sure why its acting up. Is there anyway I can stop it from doing that? Thanks for reading.

when you changed the water, did you use stress coat or some other
product to purify the water???

because stress coat or other products like those can make
too much form and overflow...

Have you cleaned the pump to remove any calcium buildup?

Take the skimmer all apart and clean it. Including the pump. These HOB's need to be cleaned thoroughly often.

My water level will rise as well, but after a good cleaning it's back to normal.

From what I've noticed new pumps tend to collect more deposits of calcium on there venturis. You can soak most of the parts in a vinegar bath this helps break down the deposits.
