Hey there,

Just started seeing this stuff throughout my tank. Its like brown stringy and its around the tank, on corals and rock itself.

It has bubbles entrapped in it.

Not sure what it is, but want to get a curb on it if its something bad.

I just switched from 192w PC to 2x150W MH if that helps any. All I can think of is algae from increased light.

After researching I think it might be dino.... but Im still not 100% sure. The tank is over 2 years old...nothing new added except a few SPS frags.

Besides the lights, I have also changed my salt recently.

I have added a bag full of carbon to HOB filter and will cut the lights to 4 hrs /day for a few days.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Looks like Dino too me, I had this problem myself, funny enough my system was about 2 years old when I had my outbreak.

I did beat it, but it was not easy, for me I siphoned out as much as I could, did a 3 day no lights, and then reduced the light cycle, increased water changes, and ran carbon.

I had to repeat the "no lights for 3 days" 3 times, over a 3 month period, to eventually beat it.
