I was wondering if I could get some info about this species?

I recently got this fish form a friend of mine, I have heard that this particular angel is "Reef Safe", however my friend believed he was picking on his brain coral.....so he gave it to me for FREE!.

How much do these normally cost.....I have heard $100-150 range or is that to much? I do know that it is the female and about 4" right now.

Any info would be great!

females are worth significantly less than the males. You are looking at around 50-75 for the female. Great fish.

Females worth less than males.. thats debatable..yes males cost more but worth more or less is more a perspective of which one a person likes best....iam not familiar with this particular fish but i will be as soon as i google it... but i have noticed on the large angels(and other fish as well) where you can tell the diffrence in male/female by looks the male is more $$$$ but not always worth more in my opinion just cost more...

disclaimer .... the above statment is only a personal opinion

these fish are passive, they are plankton feeders

The female Blackspot I had cost me $30 about 2-1/2 years ago. I occationally see them for $40, now. I had her for about 1-1/2 years before she stopped eatting and passed. But during her time, she bothered nothing. I didn't have any brain type corals, but from what I've read, I believe they are the most prone coral to be nipped by angels in general.
