I saw some Blue Xenia at the LFS that looked really good. Will this become a nuisance over time?
I have a 120 with 2 12k reflux and lots of live rock and moderate flow.

Almost any xenia can become a prob if not maintained or isolated.

So you could isolate it by placing it toward the top without too much rock around it?

Or in the sand with nothing around it.

It is possible for them to grow to become a nuisance if given the chance and the right conditions, it's up to you whether or not it happens :p

Maybe place it on a pinnacle of rock, mine seem to grow 'up'.
Be attentive if you ever clip or trim it in your tank- one hand of it can create a new colony over time under good conditions (temp, alk, etc)

Trade it to your lfs. It is hard to come by and ships poorly.
stack small rocks and after it moves over cut the bond w/ scissors

I have a big elephant ear that I will move around my colony. After Xenia is touching it for about a week it just melts away. That's how I keep mine in check. Problem is that my elephant ear will start dropping babies all over.

keep it in check like others have said. You can put small frag plugs or rocks around it and sell the babies!

Keep in corner of tank with little flow.
