View Full Version : Too much flow for fish?

I doubt I have too much flow, in fact some (most) would argue I don't have enough. But it seems whenever I turn off my powerhead and filter once the fish are done eating they swim around and seem to be having a good time. Whenever the powerhead and filter are running they hide in their caves.

What gives?

That's not much at all. I have a koralia #1 and #2 in my 29gallon as well as the flow from the protein skimmer and my fish are always out. That's at least 1000gph+. Did you just add the powerheads? At first when I did add the powerheads they didn't like the change but they got use to it.

The fish were added to the tank yesterday.

I would check for stray voltage.

In their caves they don't swim crazy or anything, just swimming with the flow. It just seems they hide behind the rocks to stay away from the current.

I think my brother has a volt tester (don't know name) so I can have him take a look for me. If he doesn't have one, is there another way to test?

I never had tested for it personally. Do you have your equipment plugged into a GFCI?

Not sure what that is.
I have a powerhead, 2xFlourescent Hoods and a filter all plugged into a regular outlet.

Just typed in GFCI in google images, looks like a regular wall outlet to me, so yes, I have it plugged into a GFCI

Ahhhh, those outlets. I have those in my bathroom and I think my kitchen. I should go ahead and install one for my tank.

Appreciate it man!

It's almost impossible to have too much flow for a fish (alright, maybe not, but it takes a lot of water flow to be concerned). I wouldnt be worried about it from that angle.

I doubt it's stray voltage, but it could be. Good luck figuring it out.
