I'd like to get into photography, and I've got about 300 to spend on the camera itself, minus lenses and stuff. I don't know how to use a dslr but I'd like to learn. What are my options? Whats good for aquarium photography for that price?

Except the D80 is over twice the price he wants to spend. Your going to have to be more specific on your budget, and will probably spend way more than $300 on "lenses and stuff" (which is the most expensive part). Probably closer to $1000....my lenses average $1000+ each. My flash alone costs over $400. Honestly I just don't think $300 is enough for a DSLR. I would suggest a Canon G9, which is about $500, but there isn't anything to buy afterward.

Thanks for the suggestion Titusvilesurfer, the G9 is a pretty well rounded camera for a pretty nice price. are there any suggestions for a nice point and shoot digi for around 300 dollars that can handle aquarium macros?

Well nothing is going to handle aquarium macros like a DSLR. If you want to go that route, then I suggest:
This

And this (A great lens for coral and flowers...but fish or anything else that moves, not so much)

This is the New version of the S5

Even the G9 is an older camera
