Hi all,
I want to add some more things to my setup and I'm looking for some suggestions.
Current stock:
2 false percula clowns
1 six line wrasse
1 indian ocean sand sifting goby
1 lawnmower blenny
1 decorator crab
1 sebae anemone
several hermit crabs and turbos as well as a sand sifting star
In my fuge, I have about 10 cerith snails and 2 hernit crabs with chaeto and live rock, DSB with fuge mud loaded with pods
as far as corals, I have a red gorgonian (tall stalk) 2 frags of toadstool, a green duncan with 5 heads, 5 different types of zoas, green star polyps, xenia, and an orange sponge.
Any suggestions on any new fish I can add happily to this lively healthy group I currently have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Hmm, 5 fish already is pretty good for a 45, but you may add 1-2 smaller fish without issue. Have you considered firefish? They're simple, but may add some interest to the tank.

I've looked at firefish but I was looking at something with a lot of color.
I was looking at a mandarin and maybe a royal gramma.
What does everyone think?

the tank has been setup for 2 years. I've had it since July and my fuge is loaded with tons of pods everywhere. copepods, amphipods and I am adding a bottle of tigger pods today (2000-4000 of them)
so mandarin should be ok IMO.

Another reason I've passed in the past of firefish is i have no top on my tank. These fish jump from what I've read.

Mandarin's are very slow and methodical hunters. It will compete with your sixline for prey. It is suggested that you have a tank with an established refugium and at least 100 lbs of live rock to support one, and thats with no competition for food.
Hate to say it, but I dont think id add another fish to a 45g unless you have one hell of a skimmer on it. If you do, I would pick one more small fish tops. There are a few types of wrasses that deal well in small tanks and are absolutely beautiful.

I completely agree with you. About the one more fish thing. I decided to pass on the mandarin due to the small tank and the six line wrasse.
I plan on upgrading to a 90g in about 6 months. As far as a wrasse, what wrasse can go into my tank with a six line wrasse already in there?
If they can't share a tank, the royal gramma is my choice for now.
Any other suggestions welcomed.
