So I was thumbing through some photos of my tank and came across an old and new pic of the first zooanthid I bought for this tank and they look very different. I wanted to know why and is this normal. Take a look-

Around late May of this year when I first got them:

Just the other day:

It appears that they look more spotty in the center and some have grown two mouths and darker too (its not just the pic)

Let me know what you think, tank you.

zoanthids/palys/protopalys typically/normally do at times morph in color/pattern etc. Depending on lighting conditions ( more or less light ) water parameters also affect how they look.

Lighting and other differences from tank to tank will effect the look, growth amount and growth pattern of just about all corals...including Zoanthids.
