Tank Contamination? Help.

Do PVC ball valves from Home Depot ever come greased? I added a ball valve to my system last night and in that time I've watched 4 amphipodes bodies go floating up. The liverock has only been in the tank for a week, but should be fully cured. I've also noticed a new film collecting on the surface of the tank water. The tank is only about a week and a half old and I'm setting up the protein skimmer and activated carbon as I type. Is this all normal, or could I have contaminated my tank with the valve?

It is unlikely that a ball valve is contaminated , as far as why these things are happening more info is needed about your tank and how it is set up ? why do you believe your liverock is fully cured? Do you have a sump? How is water getting to it? What kind of flow do you have and how much? What size tank?
