i have my toadstool mushroom coral for about 2 months, its opened up since the first day i got it. but in the past 2 and a half weeks its slimed 3 time in a row without opening. then to night it looks as if its base is rotting. this is my first coral and i dont ant to loose it any advice is welcome.

How old are your lamps?
Test Mg?

my t5 are only 2-3 months old and i dont have mg test kit

Mine does that on occassion with no ill effect. I've also seen it actually pinch off the stalk to the point where the head falls off...then the headless stalk grows a new head and the stalkless head grows a new stalk. Budding reproduction by fission. It's pretty common.

if its not "budding" what signs should i look for in case it is dying so i can propogate the head salvage whats left
