Im looking at purchasing this skimmer and was wondering if anyone could tell me how it performs? If possible could you tell me the size of your tank, how long youve had the skimmer, and if you are happy with its performance? Thanks

I have had the 150 for about 4 months. It works really well. I can't believe all the crap it removes, i empty it every coupe of days. I have a 90 gallon display with a 40 g sump and refug. my nitrates and phosphate are 0. My only complaint is that it works too well....:) Always empting.

Iver

Its got really good reviews from NTOH. I myself is planning on purchasing tonight. I hear its very well made with thick acrylic, or is that the dual reactor? anways you can't go wrong. Get the DNW models as they use a ball valve and not telescopic. I had a eurotrash that I paid almost $600 and it kept falling down back down to the pipe. GARBAGE.

mesh mod is very easy to do it would increase the flow which will produce alot more fine bubbles, go to reef builders new england
and look in the diy section and it give u photos on how to turn your needlewheel into mesh, and you can go meshmod.net to buy your kit.

Am I the only one not happy with the dnw-150?
IMO stock they are crap. They are built well, but don't pull any air. If you meshmod it it will preform, but I don't like the idea of having to modify something brand new to get it to work well. Plus when I tried the pump wouldn't start on its own.

I just got the DNW-200. Still breaking it in, had it up for 3 days now. Still unsure, cause of the break-in period. But I can say it is constructed well.

I would find out about warranty information. I'm still trying to find out that info and the website is no help, what so ever! All in all, the Reef Octos have good reviews and most people are extremely happy with them. Good Luck!

Reefergeorge i believe we are having the same problem, when i got my skimmer i hooked it up and noticed it wasn't pulling air.
i called ********** and i was talked to over the phone on how to get it going. if i turn off the pump i have take it apart tweak it to get it going.

i email ********** and they forwarded a reply from coralve and they responded by instructed me to " Blow into the air tube and would get the impeller to rotate correctly"

i just received my mesh kit i'm going to try this and see what happens.

You shouldn't have to blow unless you have too much mesh.
I have a stock NW impeller with 2 layers of FBEM.
No blow here.

i wound up buying this and had to blow in the tube to get it started. Have had it running for 2 days well see what i get out. Also had no instructions in the box and the website doesnt have anything useful. Im guessing im screwed when it breaks. So how do i mod this thing to perform better as the bubbles at the top are fairly large.

Same here....i have a dnw-150 and love it. I too have to blow air to get it to suck but i don't think that is a big deal. I have it on a 240 gallon FOWLR tank and it works great. I plan on upgrading later on to a bigger model.

If your power blinks, your skimmer may burn up. Not a big deal.
