Disappearing fish ???

OK about a 2 week ago I bought 3 blue green chromis. Little small guys. They did great for about a week and then one day I noticed that two where missing. Left me with one chromis.

I said OK, maybe they died and snails and crabs took care of them.

I then bought two more blue green chromis. They were eating and looked good. They were there when I went to bed last ngiht, but today when I got home from work the two new ones where gone.

I have one blue green chromis doing good and one maroon clown. I have a fairly large GBTA and a good size CBS.

I see no bodies anywhere. No cluster of snails eating something. Nothing. Could the the GSM be killing and feed the GBTA???

i have the exact same issue.....1 second they're there and then gone. Same order of disappearance too

Most likely the chromis that's still left is killing off all the new ones you put in.

I've heard of this often, and even experienced it on some level. The chromis do seem to kill each other often, from the weakest on.

I'll 3rd the Chromis suggestion! The biggest always nails the tiny/new additions.

Makes me mad because I waited months to find a pair.

The odd thing is, the smallest one is the only one left. He was twice as small as the second pair I bought,

I do not understand where these pesky fish disappear to! I was in the same situation you were in.

I bought 3 chormis to test my system newly cycled system. 2 of them disappeared with out a trace. I had no clean up crew, I can understand maybe they died, fine, I am okay with that. But, I could not find any bodies!


Very annoying when that happens.!

Chromis suck. Alot of people have this problem. Myself included.
