There is something that looks like a spider web stuck on the rocks of the aquarium. It feels like gel. The aquarium only has fish and some featherdusters and shrimp.

Does someone know what this is and where it comes from????

Thanks,

Yup, it is from a type of snail (vermitid) and does no harm.

just make sure the web doesn't get in your corals a lot. I think it can mess em up for a bit. Those webs are great at filtering debris :)

thanks a lot for the info.

How can I get rid of them?

That's somewhat tough to actually eliminate the snails as they hide out in the rock pores. The webs you can brush away without problem. Over time they tend to decline anyway in the confines of a tank.

Thanks for all your info.

Do you happen to know if the coil denitrator is good for maintaining Nitrate at ideal range?

They work, the trick is getting the coil length right. It takes some trial and error.

I discuss natural filtration methods in this series of articles-
