Hermit Crab Stuck Inside Trach... Bizzare Pic

The shell appears to be empty, but I'm not sure... should I try to remove the shell or not?

He ate the crab. He will spit the shell out eventually. Mine's done it before.

Wow. Very strange. This must be more common than I thought. The Trach has completely closed around the shell now, I'll keep my eye on it and update if anything interesting happens.
