I finally have my 100g stock tank up and running. I'd like to get into the frag/prop circle...not to make money, just more or less for fun and to pay for a few tank bills :)
I don't have $1000 to drop on crazy zoa's that are $40 a head...but I don't want super plain jane ones either. So where should I look online possibly to get a few nice colored starter colonies to get moving? As a grow a few out and sell I'd like to get more into the rare super colored zoa's/paly's.

Check out Pacific East Aquaculture. You can get 20 zoa frags and 12 acro frags for 200.00. You won't get to pick and choose but it's an excellent deal and if you do both and ask them nicely they will give you better zoa's and more run of the mill acro's or vice versa. None will be the so called LE but it's an awsome deal and a great way to get a frag tank some good variety...

i also would think that there are a few members on here that will set you up with a nice frag pack. some people like to charge an arm and a leg for some, but others will work you out some kind of deal.
i say check in the buy and sell section from time to time to see wht dals people have going on. i see alot of good deals on there if you have the cash ready.

Hook up with fellow reefers as your source.
Don't buy Zoas that are newly extracted fronm the sea. I have an established 220 and I have lost lots of $$$$$ by buying gorgeous new specimens only to watch them wither away. All the existing frags I have were aqua cltured by other reefers and are use to the tank life.

sad thing is that is kinda true. i have seen zoas going for alot more on this site then some others. there are acouple of other forums and sites that you can get some seriously great deals from. but i dont spend too much time on them so i cant say how trust worthy some of them are.

How active is your local reefing community? Here in AZ we have a great group that I've gotten almost all my zoa's from--rare, common and everything inbetween!

+1 for local reefers
I've supplied quite a few folks in the Tulsa area with of zoa/paly frags. Sometimes I get things in trade, sometimes not...just depends on the individual. My favorite, though, is helping a new hobbiest stock their tank with "starter packs."

Ive picked up some awsome zoas on ebay from a woman who does aquaculture in my area, beautiful animals great prices. Finding trust worthy sellers is hard on such a site but she's A+
