First off let me say this skimmer has worked great from first time I placed it in my sump and plugged it in.

My skimmer was making a noise recently so I removed it and cleaned it out. Noise gone. While cleaning it I noticed I had extra pieces in the box. I had a bottom plate with slits and one with out. (Note I purchased this unit used.)

Does it matter which one I use on the bottom? Does one affect performace one way or another?

TIA

Marvin

The one with slits is for in tank use or use in a sump where it is submerged to the marked wavy line. The solid plate is for use in sump with the outlet pipe and coupler. This allows the skimmer to work in a water level from 4-10"

Ok thanks. That might explain why my skimmate is lighter, more of a green tea vs. the coffee colored stuff I got previously.

Thank you
