Last week I purchased some polyps that are in my QT. Some grass has appeared and I also notice some red growth around the base. Is this anything to be concerned about and should I attempt to remove before moving to display tank?

Thanks in advance,

What you are calling grass looks like bryopsis to me DON'T PUT IT IN YOUR DISPLAY!!! it will spread quickly and can be very difficult to get rid of.

You forgot to point out the valonia, also (upper left of the rock). ;) I'd probably not put that in display, seems to have a lot of issues with it.

I think the red stuff is algae

I think that both the red and the grass are forms of macro algaes. The grass being possibly feather caulerpa (or maybe even bryopsis) and the red being another form of caulerpa. If they are what I think, you likely don't want them in your DT. Pluck them off and keep the rock in the QT.

NP Dan. You got some nice frags there once you get the macro off of them. One problem with the particular strain of macro I think they may be, is that the macro can grow very quick and crowd out corals. It would require constant trimming in your display tank.
