I am having the opportunity to sell my Canon Rebel XT for a decent price and would like to upgrade to a new canon body camera. I was looking at the XSi, 40D and the new 50D. I will have to stick with Canon as all my lens and flash are from them. Having you opinion will help me greatly!

Thanks!

The XSi would feel very similar to the XT in terms of ergonomics. If you budget allows for it I think that the 50D would be a great choice.

I own the 40D myself, and have several friends who own the rebel series cameras. I can personally testify that a 40D would be a worth while upgrade, which qualifies the 50D as well by default.

The dpreview review of the 50D (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos50d/) was less then overwhelmingly positive, especially given the much higher price of the 50D compared to the 40D (or the Nikon D90).

Thanks for your reply everyone! I did try the ergonomics of the 40D and its also feeling nice in my hands so its not a problem if going for ergonomics. There is still a good 400-450$ between the 50D and 40D and wondering if its worth it. I did read the review on dpreview and it did not convince me to go with the 50D over the 40D for price value reason.

Other than higher MP, higher possibilities with ISO, i am wondering if its worth the change for a 50D... what would you guys do?
