View Full Version : Shoving a 100GPD RO filter into a 50GPD unit?

Okay, I am now into the RO/DI systems and I picked up what I thought was a 50GPH (based on size) RO filter, but turned out to be a 25 :( . Now that I am looking through the online listings, I found a site that lists 3 RO filters, a 25, 50 and a 100GPD unit, ALL the same physical size.

So, my question is, can I throw the 100GPD on my 10" pre stage + carbon and DI unit that had a 50GPD cartridge in it?

Shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure they include the proper flow restrictor for the membrane you will be using.

Sweet, $10 more dollars and I can REALLY pump out some water, thanks.

Now I just need to learn what a flow restrictor is and looks like

If its a Dow Filmtec 100 GPD, don't do it. The 100 GPD is not a true RO membrane and is only 90% efficient. Look for a 98% efficient 75 GPD Dow Filmtec membrane or a 100GPD GE Water (Osmonics) which is bsically a 75 GPD at 50 psi.
