I've noticed in the last day they are not opening as well and seem to be peeling or flaking off the rock in tiny bits. I have already had a tragedy this weekend with another pet, I hope this isnt a precursor to something serious in my tank.

Check and post your water parameters. Otherwise I wouldn't be too concerned, GSP can quickly melt away while everything else thrives. They are a very strange type of coral.

Mine's doing the same thing. But all the SPS and zoas are super happy. Maybe it's for the better though? You know what they say, "Live by the GSP, die by the GSP."

i lost all green star pollyps on one of my rocks. they were under fluorecent pc's for a long time and i wasn't able to save them even after i moved them to a better lighting system. however, those that always were under MH are spreading and doing good. now they are moving onto the rock where all the others died. i want my whole tank covered in those. looks cool.

Well I guess this is againts the means of this post but please share the secret once you find out how to kill GSP.
In my case I've been trying to rid my tank of GSP with no success, I triend injection, I tried scraping down to rock and it keeps on growing back from the smallest little bit.

yes, I want to know how gap dies, too. Mine is taking over like the blob! It is unstoppable
and it is a constant battle to keep it from over growing my other corals

You can always rubber band black trash bag plastic to the rock to keep the GSP from getting any light.
