Hi all-

Please take a look at these two pics and let me know if you've seen this type of algae and if you have any ideas how to control/eradicate it. Thanks!

Red filamentous aglae: This algae grows very thick in fairly expansive mats. I can remove it with moderate pulling, but it's root structure appears to stay intact on the rocks. I can never completely remove it and it grows moderately fast. It is very soft, but fibrous.

Red leaf-like algae: This algae grows moderately thick and is spreading quickly. It is very difficult to remove and it's roots are very tight to the rock. It is smooth and rubbery in texture.

I grow Chaeto in my sump and it grows well, so I'm not sure how to eradicate this nuisance algae. Any help would be appreciated as it's overgrown almost all open areas. Thanks!

I have the same stuff as the first and I'm having trouble getting rid of it as well. So I'll bump this thread.

the top picture looks like red gracillaria. Should be able to confirm if the picture clearer.

The 2nd picture looks like sarga...
