I had my hand in my tank scrubbing and siphoning out bryopsis (hopefully) it will stay contained within a certain area and not spread..for about 5 minutes and the skimmer overflowed...

I'm just wondering how long it will take for the skimmer to go back to normal. There is no blockage. I've tried turning it on 45 minutes later and it's still going crazy....

should I give the skimmer a vinegar bath and/or do a water change? Anything else I should do?

IME, while all skimmers can overflow, if you have overflowing problems too often (and it's more common with higher airflow pumps), you're running your water level too high...

Also higher air flow skimmers are also more fussy about bubble surface tension being affected by things like oils and crap from our hands and arms. It can often take an hour or two for foam production to start back up after the surface tension has been upset, but this shouldn't cause it to overflow, quite the opposite in fact, when the surface tension is upset, the foam should collapse and your water level should be lower...
