Hi All,
Steeping up to tech 120. Building a new sump out of 29.
I run Carbon/ Phos and Poly Lab system.
Question is, do I design sump with no fuge section? What's the point of having one now?
I was thinking the following:
Small return section from tank/ bubble trap/ large section for return.

Mark, I am in the same boat. I have a 120 gallon tank that Im planning on running with a 20L sump. The problem I have run into is that I really dont have space to run 3 compartments in the sump. I will likely end up having a skimmer section, and a return section.
My only option for any sort of fuge is to link a small 5 gallon tank up to my sump to act as a fuge. The only question is: Will a 5 gallon fuge do ANYTHING to help a 120 gallon display?
I run BB so I mainly rely on skimming/carbon/GFO/Water Changes for my nutrient export.

That's my point. Why have the fuge? How are going to keep Chaeto alive in a nutrient poor environment.
I think:
Small return section from tank/ bubble trap/ large section for return
s/b okay.
My main concern is how much water returns to tank from main when circulation pump is off?
Your sump will need to be able to handle this volume.
