View Full Version : JBJ 12 gal or CAD 12 gal...

I am looking at two nano reef options, and trying to decide based on lighting....

1. JBJ 12 gal, with 2 24 watt compacts....
2. CAD 12 gal with 4 T5 bulbs = total 32 watts

Other than that, price is major, the JBJ is selling (with stand) for 179.99 at marinedepot, while the CAD will make me purchase a stand for a total of 254.00.

So two questions really.

1. Although the wattage is smaller on the CAD, I ahve heard they give more PAR. Is that true?
2. Is the extra price for the CAD worth it overall?

Thanks,
Chris

I would not be either. 12 gallons are just not big enough. I would not get smaller than a 24 Gallon. If you look hard enough you could find one on ebay for the price of a 12.

I have setup up very large systems in the past...I was intentionally trying to setup a very small nano. In fact i was considering something smaller, in the 6 gallon range...but opted for the 12....

Anyway the question is still out there.

Given the difference in wattage, is the par better on a T5 over a PC?

How dare you say that in this forum?
