automatic topoff questions

I am thinking about adding one of these to my setup and saw they were around 150 at my lfs. Has anyone made one of these that would be willing to tell me how and what I would need? Thanks.

I use one from aquahub.com Deluxe kit with aqualifter pump. I got the tubing and power cord from Home Depot.
