what type of light should i do on a 55 gallon tank. i would love to do most corals exept clams.

That really depends on if you wanna run mh or t5 and how much money you want to spend.If you wanna run t5 and not spend a ton of money then you could go with a nova extreme pro..if money is no issue ati powermodule would be a good choice.I dont run mh so someone else would have to chime in on that.

go for 2x175wt or 250wt MH.

I use a 48" fixture 2x250w halides, with 4x65w actinic, and corals grow amazingly fast. I have a 55g tank by the way... I got my light on ebay for 400.00 I think, ballasts are crappy but on a timer they work fine. I personally like the looks of halides over flourescents because of the 'sunshine' look, with the sparkling water, the halides make it 'shimmer'. Just my .02 cents
