What are the books that every reef aquarist should own?

The Reef Aquarium by Charles Delbeek and Julian Sprung. Volumes 1 - 3 - The bible of reef books imo. A little pricey but well worth it.

I have the three of those. I would second that opinion. All three are great books.

There are some nicer books out there, but I find my time is better well spent researching online media and message boards. Common consensus is usually more powerful than one person's opinion on tank husbandry, though for species information books can be very useful.

I also really like Delbeek and Sprung's The Reef Aquarium volume 3. Book of Coral Propagation by Anthony Calfo is excellent as well.

Does The Book of Coral Propogation cover all kinds of corals, or is it centered around certain types?

It covers different types of coral. Anthony Calfo has a lot of great information in that book about how to grow coral successfully. It is also geared to almost all levels of readers.

I also have this one. Love it.

I picked up a few issues of Coral magazine this weekend. It seems pretty good. I guess it's a translation of a Germn magazine. Anyone else have any experience with this one?

Great article Steven! Thanks! I am glad you liked it! I should also mention there are a ton of fabulous books that I did not mention in that article. The three volume set by Sprung and Delbeek is very good and I own it, among many others.

I have actually added about a dozen books since this picture was taken.
